About Us

Your Local Bike Shop

We’re located in the vibrant and beautiful city of Denton, TX at 219 Fort Worth Drive. We love Denton and we couldn’t be happier to be part of the community and growing cycling culture! We offer a full range of bicycles and bicycle accessories, and even indoor trainers, stationary exercise bikes. We offer top notch service from a staff with extensive and varied experience in the bicycle industry. We just love to ride and talk about bikes.

Owner Gabe Aguilar and his staff has years of experience in the retail bicycle industry and have been residents of Denton for over a decade. The goal is to bring back the type of bike shop that people come to do more than just buy bikes, parts, and get repairs or rentals. The type of shop where people come to hang out and make relationships with the guys who work on the bikes and help keep their lifestyle possible. We’re more than just a bike shop. We live cycling.

Gabe Aguilar

Wizard mechanic, Gabe, started Velo Republic in 2014 with his wife Gail. He’s been working as a mechanic since 2004 and enjoys riding bikes when he can find time. You’ll usually find him working on bikes at Velo. When Gabe isn’t at the shop, he’s playing legos with his two sons or playing drums in one of his bands: The Von Ehrics, Code Talkers, or RJV & Hell Country Revival. Gabe is a proud alum of Texas Tech University.

Elliot Minick

Elliot has been working in bike shops since 2011 and started working for Velo in 2016. Elliot enjoys riding his single speed Cannondale out at Northshore when it isn’t under water. When he isn’t riding a bike or working on one you can find him with his dogs working in his garden. Elliot is a proud alum of the University of North Texas.
